Brief Outline: The small cul-de-sac of Southend, Derbyshire, is by no means the smallest Southend road in the world, but sadly lacks a decent amount to do. Since the Grassmoor Colliery closed, the village has lacked a real economy of its own, relying on nearby Chesterfield. While the locals are willing to have a natter with you, often asking you why you have travelled so far just to see a couple of dozen houses and a Southend sign, they can become slightly questioning of your presence. Being in the countryside though, you do get good local scenery and a peaceful existance. |
