Brief Outline:

Let’s face it - naming any road “The Southend” is always going to cause debate. I mean, what makes it so special that it is “the” Southend, above all others? Well, it is a big claim, but The Southend in Ledbury does have a lot going for it. While not being the main street in Ledbury, The Southend leads on to the High Street and therefore has a number of shops and a pub hotel (which sells Apple Pie). There are a range of signs, although it must be pointed out that there is a sign lacking at the roundabout end of the road (otherwise you may end up going round and round looking for it). It is quite a busy road, forming part of the A449, but still has shops covering brass fittings, kids clothes and bridal wear and services such as a foot & ankle clinic, vets and dentist. The local High Street then provides a wider range of shops and services along with the town’s central church and a market place. While the title of “The” Southend does slightly flatter this quaint small town road, it is a lovely place to visit and grab a bite to eat, especially if you are on the Severn Seven.
