Does it have a sign? 9 (1-20%)
NOTES: One sign positioned high up on the side of a house. Of good quality. It is only a shame there aren't more
How easy is it to take a photo at the sign? 6 (1-10%)
NOTES: The high up position does have its advantages for photo taking as a casual stance can be adopted. However there are no obvious objects to place the camera on but the ground will suffice. Does it have a shop selling pies in/nearby? 6 (1-7%)
NOTES: Good variety in the vicinity. Small village shop sells McKipling pies. There is also a fish and chip shop. Can you find more for sale in the numerous resturants and pubs in Haddenham?
Does it have a Fast Food Restaurant in/nearby?1 (1-3%)
NOTES: There is a snack bar and fish and chips which are fast but not standard fast food.
Is there a pub in Southend? 4 (1-5%)
NOTES: This gets a high score as the Kings Head is a stones throw from the sign itself.
How good is it for entertainment? 7(1-10%)
NOTES: There are nice areas like the pond to hang around and the possibility for meals out. These would score higher if they were on South End road. However very close to South End there is a 'village museum' but note that it is only open sundays and tuesdays.
How random is the place?7 (1-10%)
NOTES: The previously mentioned village museum is pretty random. It is also quite unique compared to other similar Southends, partly because of its small size.
How enjoyable was the journey there? 8 (1-10%)
NOTES: It is an enjoyable journey and the excitment is added to by the difficultly of actually finding the South End even if you think you know where it is.
Are there adequate facilities for a party? 4(1-5%)
NOTES: Plenty. Pubs, village hall and space outside provide ample opportunities to partay southend stylee.
Is it worth another visit? 8(1-10%)
NOTES: This score is so high in part because of its relative closeness to the legendary Southend Bucks (Settlement) which makes a 'Bucks Double' fit comfortably into an afternoon. But it is also close to the highly regarded Southend Garsington meaning a high quality tri-pie challenge is a possibilty with only moderate driving time. Of course all the facilities of Haddenham itself will leave you questioning why this South End hasn't been visited more often.
